For those who have not been there Clarens/Golden Gate is a spectacular area. Any idea how much climbing there is on the 48km?

It is a truly beautiful area and well worth a visit.

 

Last year we had just less then 900m ascent in the half marathon.

I am off to Clarens again tomorrow to finish up with the new "Scorpion Alley" singletrack and begin opening up the mountain pass...Watch this space for more updates and pics!

I've heard this race is quite technical? How does it compare to Sabie 2012 (marathon) in terms of difficulty?

 

In terms of overall difficulty, I would say that it is easier then Sabie as the road surfaces are smoother and there is not as much ascent, however, there are certain sections that are slightly more technical then you would have experienced at Sabie.

 

The scenery is well worth it though! BEAUTIFUL!

Is there 2600m of climbing in the 75km also or is that just the 115km?
