vinylguy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 hi all was a lekker race! anybody enjoy it? flat and fast! really shocked that we had to fight with 4 wheelers and motorbikes during our ride though! most were friendly! except the two clowns on scramblers that rode into a poor race rider! they didn't even show remorse and just rode off... IDIOTS! the rider that went down had spinal injuries and pretty banged-up
Face Plant Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 hey Tyrone it was a lekker race, like you say it was really sad about the incident you mentioned however i believe the guy is okay (no spinal injuries) just a big gash to his leg from his chainring and a possible fracture to his wrist, from what i heard the guy on the motorbike did stop but after being threatened by some mtbers he rode off! generally speaking i think it was a well organised fun race
jarek.pski Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I wasnt very happy with the river crossings, people just don't know what to do when it comes to water.The crossing at 40km was quite a dangerous one, guy in front of me sank almost up to his neck, battling to get out I feel they should've at least layed pallets at the bottom to prevent further sinking or something....

Acre Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Great ride but also did not enjoy those river....err sewerage crossings, that water is filthy. The extra loop on the 55km was great though especially the single track after the koppie descent. I rode 2hrs 9mins

Face Plant Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 you will not believe it that on saterday all the water crossings where totaly rideable!! apparently there was one hell of a storm saterday night which caused the water levels to rise, when the routes where checked an hour before the race the water levels where still low, so it was a suprise for everybody when the levels climbed so quickly... but hey what would a mtb race be without getting wet lol!
slowlady Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 It was fantastic to just spin the legs after a lot of pushing on Saterday. Riding crazy croc the day before made the river crossings look like childs play.
