What are your thoughts on Carbon dropouts?

Recommended Posts

I notice there is a growing trend to have both rear and front dropouts made of carbon. I could only assume that this makes the production process easier as there is no bonding of dissimilar materials. This obviously suites bike manufacturers, marketing it under the guise of weight saving

But how safe is it? There is also a trend from some skewer manufacturers to explicitly warn against using their skewers on frames with carbon dropouts. So are we limited to using specific skewers then?
