Salt tablets from the chemist. I pop 2 about every hour. What your body doesn't need it will get rid of. Simple.

 

rennies does the trick for me ... helps with heartburn too :D

I seem to remember reading somewhere that cramps come from a lack of Potassium in the diet.

 

Yep - def a possible cause, as are other electrolytes like Magnesium, and Sodium (and I'd guess Calcium based on Rennies/Enos use)

 

Hard part seems to identifying your individual cause of cramp vs the range of things that can cause cramp. FWIW - my GP advised trying Magnesium first as it's a more common deficiency in cramping than Potassium.

Even more important than relying on tabs, since this happened at the beginning of the race, it might be that your pre-race stretching and warmup was not good enough?

 

Ja - I didn't warm up - so that might have been part of the problem.
