Its law to wear a helmet in SA . If any hubbers have been in an accident on a bike the metro report even asks if cyclist was wearing a helmet . Safe riding all

It is law

a.) that you are not allowed to steal

b.) that you abide by the speed limit

c.) that you may not drive under the influence

d.) that you do operate a cell phone while driving

e.) that you ..... arghhh whatever!

The law... does not keep you safe.

YOU, and YOUR OWN actions keep you safe

To all: please stop regurgitating "It is the law"

In October 2004, regulation 207(2) of the National Road Traffic Regulation became effective after being passed three years earlier.

The regulation orders the compulsory wearing of a protective helmet that is properly fastened and fitted while riding a bicycle or being carried as a passenger.

hahaha, enforcing this 'law' is one thing that has failed miserably, looking at the commuters around JHB that dont own cars...

Also, its not a "live" law and can't be enforced.

It's either a law or it ain't. I've arrested a cyclist who gave me uphill for not wearing a helmet. R200 admission of guilt, if I remember rightly...
