Hi there.

I currently have a set of Mavic Ksyrium SL rims. I am interested in buying some deeper section carbon rims if anybody can help me make a decision, do I keep the rims I have or do I buy the deep sections??

And whats the pro's and cons of the tubbies and clinchers??

They are pretty nice rims in themselves. Deep sections there are a fair few that I did research on. The Cosmics Carbones are very well priced and my buddy just picked up a set if the std ones at CWC for R9K and is very happy with them tho noticed the extra weight and spin up esp on hills. The Duraace C50's are also nice. For some reason the C35's are the most expensive.

I ended up getting American Classic Aero 420's and stayed away from carbon for a number of reasons but if I were going to get Carbon Deeps I'd suggest the American Classic Carbon 58 Road wheel set is well worth a look at. http://www.cycleteknix.co.za/products.php?type=Wheelset-Road has them for R8200.

Also if you're thinking outside the norm' Planet X has some very nice deep section carbons for sale for £499 I think. Hand built by Mark Lovett apparently, contact the local importer for SA prices. they are getting rave reviews.

Local Planet X guy also has some Ness Carbons on special@ R6900: http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.za/

If money is no object then a friend in the UK has shelled out serious on a set of Zipp 303 Firecrests and is very stoked with them.

and clinchers all the way. Technology has moved on heaps since tubs were the norm and they are just heaps more convenient.
