WASHINGTON (AP) _ Drivers talking on cell phones are probably making Americans' commute time even longer, concludes a new study.
Motorists yakking away, even with handsfree devices, crawl about 2 mph (3.2 kph) slower on commuter-clogged roads than people not on the phone, and they just do not keep up with the flow of traffic, said study author David Strayer, a psychology professor at the University of Utah.
If you commute by car an hour a day, it could all add around 20 hours a year to your commute, Strayer said.

Angryi absolutely hate people talking on their cell phones on the highway.

driving on the N1 between Pta and Jhb everyday, you see it a lot. and it is not just females or males or blacks or whites - it's everybody. and yes, it is very frustating to drive behind a person talking on their cell phone. not fully concentrating on the road there is no telling what they might do when traffic comes to a sudden standstill (which happnes a lot), and i agree they do drive slower than the rest of the cars and not  flowing with the rest, and then it is not always possible to overtake them so you have to sit behind them, while they putting themselves and everybody else in danger - yaking away on their little phones.
