You will get a much better bike in the second hand market. I understand getting a new bike is nice and all, but for what you are getting in terms of components and frame is not that great, but at the same time its not a Game or Makro piece of shyte. They are decent bikes, don't get me wrong.

 

Again, these two bikes are only 8 speed, nothing wrong but it is getting phased out and parts will become a problem down the line.

Go to Hatfield Cycles bud they have specials on last years GT Avalanche 1.0 for R4995 and the Avalanche 2.0 for R3995......you won't beat that

Those are good prices, if you deciede new is for you, the GT Avalanche 1 is the bike to get then, but as someone else said look at the Silverback range.
