Active Monkey Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I have a scott mtb (spark) and recently started riding allot on te road during the week with my brother as well as plan on doing 94.7.... So want to get a decent and not to expensive roa bike. I see the trek 1.1 is going for 4500, any sugestions or specials going around?

I would say wait until a good second hand deal shows up in your size.If you don't like the bike, you can sell it on without making a big loss, likewise if you decide to upgrade at a later point. Provided you get the bike checked out before you buy it, the lack of warranty also really isn't likely to be an issue.
Eugene Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 That Trek 1.1 for R4 500 is a good price for a Trek. Is it new? If so, it is a bargain because Treks are normally massively overpriced. Either way it has entry level parts which will do the job you want it to do, but it will be on the heavy side. For about R6 500, you can get an Axis AR50 with the new Tiagra 10 speed.
