A couple of years ago, I used to commute fairly regularly from Blouberg to Rondebosch. This was before the Koeberg interchange was redesigned. I am now working in that area again, at a company with showers, and I'm looking at commuting again.

I used to go over the Koeberg interchange, into Maitland, over Voortrekker, left in Berkley and then right into that long road that goes past Vincent Palotti. From there I went right, left, past the Commons and onto Belmont.

Question: Is this still the best route? Is there anyone else doing more or less this route?

Hello. This route is still usable. I would however turn right at Voortrekker and head towards the traffic circle at the bottom of Woodstock. Left at that and onto Liesbeek Parkway through to Newlands.

There are other routes that use more of the cycle lane to get closer to town and across the N1, but I personally am not too crazy about using the lane through Paarden Eliand where you tend to be isloated from traffic, thus more of a target. Specifcally at the underpass under the N1 which was a hotspot for a time!

Enjoy the ride. I did to Mowbray for 8 years from there.(About to move to the Southern Suburbs) It's usually 15 minutes faster by bicycle than average peak driving time!
