Now that winter is here, I need/want to do some spinning classes. Has anyone got any recommendations for a good training class or a good spinning trainer to look out for? I'm based in Sandton and Rosebank and would ideally be looking for a 60 to 90 minute class. I'm a memeber at Planet Fitness, but I find the classes at Wanderers and Rosebank, with a few exeptions, a little lame. Any ideas?

Past year's I've done the same - once Argus is done, head back indoors for spinning. I always felt it start of next season though, sluggish and unused to being on the bike.

This year is first I've ditched the spinning - in it's place I do a gymn core strength session once a week with a personal trainer. And I'm trying to still get out on bike 2 or 3 times (generally 2 with time constraints). I have to say, so far I feel stronger and better for it than what spinning did for me. We've had good weather so far, but I got some decent cold and wet weather gear from UK for when it isn't - just hope my determination keeps up though.

Just my 10c - nothing wrong with spinning per se, it just didn't do much to maintain any real on-bike fitness for me.

Mine is ~R185/session. Sure it varies from trainer to trainer and gym to gym. It seemed like a lot when I first started, so much so it nearly put me off. Three months in though, I can honestly say no piece of kit I have bought has ever done more for my riding - so it now seems no more bad than spending 100s or 1000s on bikes and parts.

I would say though - mine came recommended, and he's an ex pro cyclist so he knows what to work on. I reckon I got lucky, sure some of the trainers aren't nearly so good.
