Im thinking that perhaps what I should do at the moment is:

Get new Hope Hubs

Use the existing rims

Have it all hand built

Then if time comes, I will upgrade the rims and re-build again later.

What do you think?

Do you know anything about DRC ST18 rims?

I had my Mavic open pro's rebuilt( after they were written off back in 2004)on DRC ST17's ,and trouble free kilometers on them .

I have swopped out my xt hubs and a sunn ringle jumping flea hub,and have managed to use the same spokes again.I have seen somewhere its not advisable but it seemed to work ok with me and I have had no problems, I built the wheels myself, but must admit it is a difficult thing to do and you need patience on your first wheel.I have heard using old spokes can be a problem as they have been tensioned before, also it may be harder to get the wheel straight. Also the spokes may not be the right length. So I suppose it depends on who you get to build your wheels?

Either stick with my Alex SX44's or perhaps the DRC ST18's -

Mavic 819 are great rims and they are tubeless.Get 32 hole rims and they will last you ages.

DRC are much more reliable than cr@ppy Alex. The DRC aluminum rims are quite heavy but built with a decent hub they are bullet proof.
