HELP!! Marzocchi 66 RC3 180mm lowers needed (I think...)

Hi guys,

Spoke to a mate this weekend and he has offered me parts of a fork. He had a set of Marzocchi 66 RC3 180mm (that came on a lime green Kona Stinky). They were removed and stripped for a service. He left them hanging over a bin to drain all the oil overnight and when he came to get them the following evening, they were gone! His maid threw them out with the rest of the rubbish while he was at work!

Does anybody have a set of forks with bent stanchions lying around that I could salvage the lowers from? Alternatively, does anybody know what other lowers would be compatible with those stanchions?

We are running on a budget here so any help would be appreciated!

.

Thanks

G

no other lowers are compatiable with those - i remember when the maid threw marks lowers away ... hahaha he said he could have killed her!

You need the specific Marzo lowers for those forks

Thanks Nige. What do you think the chances are of getting lowers? Looks like Chris' bike is about a 2009...?

but that bikes a small isnt it? I think it would be a bit small for you.

No no no! I wasn't thinking about the bike (Way too small). Just trying to date the forks. They originally came off his bike and the Kona looks like it was around a 2009 Kona. Mark only offerred me the forks if I could find lowers. Just thought the extra 30mm travel on my bike would make going down a bit easier....

aaah.... ok ... ya its a 2009. Stinky Deluxe

has a

Marzocchi 66 RC3 180mm (1.5) with 20mm Dropouts

:P Took me a lot longer to come to the same conclusion. Do you think the longer fork will help? It will suck going up I know, but that isn't what this is all about... ;)

to be honest .... i dont think its worth it - unless you getting the fork for free and just need to find a set of lowers - (as if you need to buy a set of lowers you are in for like 3k) ... id say then rather put that money into a cheaper old DH rig and keep the teocali as you XC/am bike.

He was going to let me have the forks as far as I could gather. If I am going to have to spend 3k on the lowers, I might as well put that into the DH fund and wait.

PS If that Canondale is 1 year old, somebody in their R&D department needs to start looking for another job... ;)

ya - just see what you can find - i will ask around for you ... hahaha ya that cannondale is definitely older than 1 year the forks are at max 2009 - so this is likely to be a 2005 - but its worth just seeing what the spec is like etc as the Cannondale Gemini DH was a good bike - (i think thats what this is).

Also if the price with kit is negotiable ... maybe you can get it all for 7k???

I haven't made any commitments yet. Wanted to see what I could find first. I had a quick snoop around the garage this weekend, and there are one or two things that look like I could do without them... Hopefully come up with enough dosh to look at a bike...
