It's not the width that's a problem... it's the "Truvativ bulge".

 

Their Truvative Holzfeller, Hussefelt, and Boo Bar desin is such that the taper from the ride is quite far out from the centre of the bar, thus making it hard to position controls inwards.

yeah, it's a pain in the butt. I once had 680mm hussefelts and unless you run the brake levers hard up against the grips, you can't fit everything on nicely.

 

I like a good 25mm or so between my grips and my levers!

Yeah. the bulge on boobars is a problem. I had the 780's which i cut down to 760. It wasn't a problem until I got hope brakes. (Long lever) I just couldn't get a setup that i was happy with. I solved the problem by getting some renthals.

20mm rise cut to 760. I'm not super tall (ok I'm a midget) so 760mm feels just right to me.

 

I have to say to the OP. Boobars for me are just horrible. I don't know how they got something so simple so wrong. The bend on the Renthal feels so good to me. I also recomend Sunline V1's They come in 745mm I think but they feel great.

I've gone from boobars to Deity Dirty30s (also because of the bulge). 25mm rise, 760mm width, and light. Love em!

I'll admit that I didn't mind the feel of the boo bars. I replaced the boo bars with the renthals because 740 (which they were cut to) was a little narrow for DH... plus they were black... and just like none of my bikes run black rims... I didn't wan't any of them with black bars

 

(except for Enve DH bars or rims... I'll compromise for those )
