THE HAGUE January 16 Sapa-AFP
CYCLING: BOOGERD, MENCHOV DENY LINKS TO DOPING LAB
Retired Dutch cyclist Michael Boogerd and his former team-mate Denis Menchov have denied their links to a laboratory which has been targeted by anti-doping authorities for storing athletes' blood.
The duo were on Tuesday among the athletes, including former Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen and a number of biathletes and cross country skiers, named in a report by German television channel ARD as being clients of Vienna-based laboratory Humanplasma.
Humanplasma is being investigated by Austrian prosecutors and by the Interior Ministry following a tip-off from the World Anti-Doping Agency about possible doping violations.

A German broadcaster has apologized for publishing reports on doping without having proof.
The ARD said Tuesday that about 30 athletes, two-thirds of them German cross-country skiers and biathletes, used a Vienna lab to receive illegal blood transfusions. The report did not name any athletes.
But an ARD reporter from a biathlon World Cup event apologized Thursday during the live broadcast for the allegations, saying the national broadcaster had acted unprofessionally by making allegations "without having provable facts."
