In May I decided to upgrade my GoPro 960 to a GoPro Hero2. Just in time for Sani2C as well! I bought the camera at Orms in Bellville. Pricing seemed to have been fairly consistent throughout, so I decided to buy at a shop that's been around for a few years and that knows cameras. I also bought my Canon 500D camera there a few years ago and received very good service at the time.

At the recent Greyton Challenge my camera started with random errors where while recording it would stop, and try to start recording again, but then stopping at second intervals. While this was happening the setup (little wrench icon) would appear on the display screen.

After the ride I tried a different battery, different SD card and even thought that perhaps one of the buttons on the casing may be pushing into the camera buttons and tested the unit without the casing as well. The same thing kept on happening.

On Tuesday afternoon (about 4pm) I took my camera to Orms in Bellville where I bought it with the receipt and original packaging so that they can send it off to get inspected and repaired. The lady (Heather) was very helpful and told me that the turn around time is 10 working days.

This morning I got a call from her to say that they are replacing my camera. I thanked her and popped down to collect my new camera.

On Tuesday they only took the camera and when I got there they have included a new camera, new casing, mounts and power cable as well.

The turn around time was 2 days and the no-fuss attitude towards the replacement really impressed me. I am not sure if I should thank Orms or GoPro's SA distributors, but to either or both: Thanks for sorting this out so promptly.

This is why I always try to buy electronic appliances and accessories at specialist shops. I could probably have saved R100 or R200 at a mass store but would still be waiting right now to hear from them about my camera.

Orms will definately see more of me when I am looking around for a tripod and flash for my Canon 500D.
