I know its been a long wet winter and we're all chomping at the bit to get on the bike. However the rain we had today has resulted in an enormous amount of runoff and undoubtedly major damage to most MTB trails on the Cape Peninsula and Winelands.

People often don't realise the damage they're doing riding muddy trails after rain. May seem like fun for some but will only compound the damage already done by the water.

With more rain a narrow MTB tire rut has the potential to become a small donga. Rutted tracks also need more maintenance to get them level again once dry.

So for the sake of the trails and the guys who've put in the hours to build and maintain them give the trails a break this weekend.
