yeah , i do a bit, but id rather struggle on climbs and force myself to get stronger than spin wayyyy to much and the other guys ride away like im standing still on the flats

If you're spinning out, the problem is the 11 on the back. Changing anything else cassette wise ain't gonna improve that - they best you can get is 11.

You need a bigger big chain ring on the front.

Why do you spin too much? just change to a heavier gear. :P

An 11-25 will give you a nice close spread of ratios and the 34-25 as your easiest ratio should be all you need for the hills.

With a compact crank you just need to learn to up your cadence, but as a mtb rider you shouldn't have an issue with that.

11-30 is way too big.

11-24/25, not much of a difference if you put it on a 34 small chainring, so you can use either.

yeaahhh i dont have a problem with spinning to much, but id rather not and look half decent pedalling and not trapping it like a mad thing and going no where slowly hahahaha..... cause i watched the guys around me at suikerbos, they pull away nicely but then again they know their bikes and gears im still trying to get the hang of it, which i scheme is a bit late as 94. is around the corner oops.gif

Try get a 52 or 53 big blade. You can do nothing with the back. Also, what Dangle said. You can learn to increase your cadence

I somehow don't think that a 52 or 53 will fit.

The BCD will be different.

A 50-11 ratio at at cadence of 100rpm should give you a road speed of around 56km/h (if my maths is correct). So just practice getting into a rhythm at that sort of cadence. I can sit comfortably at 120 to 130rpm but it takes practise.

it definately does take practice, cause man after the 2nd climb at suikerbossie (the one that never ends) you really got to convince yourself and htfu to spin the rest, blink.png

If I remember that descent... I couldn't pedal much even with a 53-11 because I was doing well over 70km/h.

Lack of cadence?

I pedaled out one of the descents in the 94.7 at just over 80 in a 53-11. But all you need to do is tuck yourself in and little pedaling is necessary.
