Hi guys. I’m going to be in PE from the 28th December until the 3rd of January and am looking for suggestions on where to swim. My last swim in CT will on the 24th and I have a 3.2km swim on the 6th of January so I need to do some swimming while in PE just to keep the arms moving. Can anyone suggest a gym or an open water venue that I could possibly use? Or is there someone who would be willing to introduce me to the big blue ocean swimming?

I know my Boet meets up with guys at Hobie beach in the early evenings after work and they swim loops of hobie and six pillars. apparently you arrive and join.

There is an olipic size pool (with roof) in Newton Park - I am sure goolge has some info.

Then also there are quite a few people swimming from the peer around the balls a towards the 6 pillars/habour and back (almost the Iron Man route) on a daily basis - morning and afternoon. Just look out for a few people with wet suits and no surf boards and go jump in.

Is it jellyfish spawning day at Hobie beach today? For a moment I thought it was a plague of blue bottles.

swim late this afternoon, the west should clear it all up

Thanks for the offer. I ended up going to newton park pool. it's a really nice facility and i enjoyed the 50m pool. Although in hind sight the sea water was very calm and it would have been a good opportunity to try ocean swims

another question for the swimmers. I did a swim yesterday and i kept going horribly off course to the right. it didn't have anything to do with current as i still went off to the right on the swim. I suspect it has something to do with my swim stroke or the different strength of each arm. Anyone have ideas why I'm pulling offf to one side so much

Where did you swim? If the conditions aren't that good you will battle to find a good rhythm and also find myself swimming stronger on my right in bad conditions

I did the Brian curtis mile in grabouw. I went off to the right of the pack on the way out to get away from all the people. And then i just kept going right. hand to constantly adjust myself by quite a bit. i even had the life safer come and stop me as i was almost 90 degrees to the pack after one of the cornersdrool.gif must have swum 1.8km instead of the 1,6km we were supposed to
