I currently have a 180mm at the front but was wondering if I should go down to a 160mm to save weight if I don't need a bigger disc...

 

Not going to be worth the weight save but you will not need a calaper mount if you go 160 ( on some forks you can just mount the calaper straight to the fork) so thats a advantage . Also the stopping power of the new xt breaks is so damb good you only need a 160 unless you weigh 300kg.

Can you please help with a link for this? All I find are centre lock to 6 bolt adapters.

 

These only work if the wheels are centerlock and your rotor is six bolt. And I would leave the 180mm especially if its a 29'er the greater rotational forces needs that bit of extra stopping power.
