Hi

I have an old Wheeler T-62 Triathlon bike that I am thinking of upgrading rather than throwing away. It currently weighs about 10kg and the frame is made of chrome-moly butted tubing and is equipped with Shimano 105 ... very old 105.

I cannot find any info on the bike using google and wonder if anyone could give me advice on the following?:

1) Is it worth upgrading the components on this bike to lighten it and use it for road racing?

2) What would/should I change and with what.

Any opinions would be welcome...

Thanks thumbup1.gif

PS. I want to add that the bike size is 51cm and I am 1.68m tall... I believe this is just the right size?

Thanks again

Personal opinioon: Destiny: single speed / funny bike. (if it cannot be used 'as is').

That said, give it a proper cleansing (Not zuma style), and re-lube / check everything - you might be able to use it as is.

Although, financially it might not be worth the effort to fit new(ish/er) components to it? Seems like it needs more than a proper cleaning/tuning? Handlebars as is are OK for road riding/racing. Might just want to flip the seatpost around?

Thanks Robox

The bike hasn't been used in 10 years so will def clean and try it out.. Was hoping to reduce the weight a little but you may be correct. Looking at the classifieds on here ... a decent bike costs around 6k...

Thanks again and a prosperous 2013.
