Do bike racks require stronger tow bars?

I had the same car, bought a tow bar from the local scrap yard and fitted it my self. Total bill R 800.

You took te words right out of my mouth.

 

go to a scrap yard for a second hand one.

 

powder coat it if needed.......

 

get some strong bolts....

 

Are either of you perhaps in cape town? if so, which scrap yard did you contact?

 

How does the towbar attach to the car? does it come from below the bumper? or will a hole have to be cut?

Make sure you use 12,2 hardess bolts if you do the install yourself. They are marked on the bolt head.
