1. Pietermaritzburg, South Africa (5-6 April)

 

After a brief hiatus on this year's calendar (in order to host the World Champs), what has become widely recognised as the traditional season opener returns. Expect lots and lots of pedaling and dust.

 

 

 

2. Cairns, Australia (26-27 April)

 

The Smithfield Park track is a new inclusion to the World Cup circuit for 2014, but it has pedigree. It hosted the World Champs back in 1996 (Nico Vouilloz took the win from Shaun Palmer), it'll host them again in 2017.

 

 

 

3. Fort William, Scotland (7-8 June)

 

What else is there to do on the first weekend of June other than marinade yourself in cold beers, get eaten alive by midges and (hopefully) soak up the sun?!

 

 

 

4. Leogang, Austria (14-15 June)

 

Leogang returns to add it's distinct blend of Alpine ruggedness - just what those forearms will be needing after Fort William just a week before.

 

 

 

5. Mont Sainte Anne, Canada (2-3 August)

 

Big, fast, old-fashioned - MSA is a track made for the old breed of World Cup racer. It's a track which demands confidence at top speed tempered with accuracy through the rocks.

 

 

 

6. Windham, USA (9-10 August)

 

The USA regains it's only World Cup stop as the circus returns to the New York venue. Again, there's only a week between rounds and as the penultimate round of the series, this could be vital.

 

 

 

7. Méribel, France (23-24 August)

 

A debutant venue will host the final round of the 2014 calendar. It'll be the final chance to confirm the overall standings before the World Champs in Hafjell, Norway just 10 days later.

OK, so it's been tentatively decided that Leogang will replace Val di Sole as our destination.
