MTB Trails in Mpumalanga Highveld

You can't go wrong on a weekend at Boven. The red, blue and black trails are right on your doorstep into the forest if you stay at Tranquillitas (none of them are very technical but lots of fun). Also a green loop around the chalets which has a few surprising and interesting sections. The trails are quite short but you can link them up or do them on after each other. Climbs not too long or steep by somehow you get a huge bang for your buck on the descents.

There is a new technical Trail X being developed which leaves from Tranquillitas and goes straight down into the gorge. Not sure if Glenn is finished with that one yet. Think he said August...

Then there is the Rim Trail along the top of the cliff which descends half way back to town. This can be linked with an awesome Mountain Trail which drops you out onto the road at the other side of town.

I'll definitely report back. Still trying to get some more friends to join us. I will most probably have to pack some bandages since I usually run out of talent at places like this.

Trail X is still under construction and will be for another few months at least... The other trails are all open and conditions are dry, fast and fun. More accommodation will soon be available at the newly restored farm house too. Riding permits available from Roc n Rope Adventures in town or up at Tranquilitas itself.

Awesome. Can't wait for the next trip to Boven. The trails were very fresh when we were last there. Are you still going to hold a mini enduro type event?

Good idea to have permits available at Tranquilitas.

As a local I'm lucky enough to cycle the Boven trails regularly. If I feel like fun riding I head up to the Tranquilitas routes, where it sometimes feel as if someone is secretly sweeping the track ahead of me. For something more adventurous I head into the mountain trail behind town - 11 km of relatively hard yet amazing single track cycling.

Thanks Glenn and Mike for all the hard work.

This weekend at Tranquilitas was awesome. The trails is great an definitely worth the visit they're not overly technical but there is one or to sections that's a bit hairy but not impossible. We rode the green, blue, red an black trails. All these trails is well marked with extremely great single track.

I especially had some great fun on the 4-cross track.

I had so much fun at Tranquilitas in July that I went there again last weekend and I must say it was awesome again!!!

The trails there is amazing, short but amazing. We went on the trails on Friday and you could still see the rake marks on the trails, just shows the commitment of the guys there to maintain the trails.

We also hiked the new trail they are busy building as well... Looks like great fun, loads of descend. Must say that I wouldn't want to fall on that trail since you will definitively roll down a hill.
