i am looking to buy scott spark 920 or anthem next month....worried about the giants frame though...seen and heard of lots of cracked frames.....what i like about the giant is the sid and full xt.....

Alu anthem, use the difference between alu and carbon to upgrade the wheels.

Unless it has the new PXCR wheelset, they are good enough weighing in a 1.74 kg.

I'm not sure but I think most of the cracked anthem frames were 26ers.

True....I think.... Sorry to jack..But is the anthem a good enough race bike..?

Stumpjumper

Tallboy 2

Both great bikes, and neither brands have the rather worrying number of cracked frames that giant have. Don't bother with the Scott, the suspension performance doesn't compare to the other three.

Tallboy would be awesome, but just too expensive! Is 130mm travel on the stumpy too much travel for for general xc riding?

Throw a set of ztr or American classic and I think the anthem will be a decent enough race bike. I haven't heard of any rear shock issues with the anthem either. The 29er anthem reviews are really good. It's an efficient and reliable option. The Scott's have had their rear shock issues but do look good. Form over function or function over form? I'd take the latter.
