What excersises are safe when recovering from roator cuff and tendon surgery. Worked so hard just to get to this level of fitness and strength and would hate to loose it all in the recovery months.

Give yourself a couple weeks, if you can ride a recumbant it would be a good start, 4 weeks in i would look at getting onto the stationary bike, hard walking etc. Hiking is great here, lots of vertical ascent keeps power and endurance.

But rather heal properly, you will return to strength far quicker, listen to the body, pain and discomfort generally mean stop, unless supervised by a professional.

Start exercising once you've lost the sling. As kennyg mentioned recumbent cycling in the gym when you start. You won't lose alot of fitness in two weeks. I would recommend walking as well, no hiking as you risk the chance of falling. Biggest obstacle is watching your diet now while you are recovering. I had surgery for a pinched tendon in shoulder and a month later still have pain especially when reaching into my back pockets of jersey and on long rides. I was lucky I didn't need a sling on discharge and drove myself home from hospital. Take it easy and heal properly.
