  1. I am in the design/manufacture field. I don't understand why people say the UCI is holding industry back. The UCI have a definition of a bicycle and its basic components for competition. In no way do they define industry requirements. These definitions standardise the expectation of the product and thus allows industry to participate at various levels. Drive train, wheels, frames etc. I cant think of any one group that supplies a bicycle in it entirety campag probably closest. If you think about the costs involved, the processes and technologies to remain competitive, you even overlooking the entire motor industry. F1 a great example, its a FIFO system. This is the definition of the class we are racing, and rally cars have there own rule book. The creative guys will come up with ways to stimulate the market. Create a demand, and another class, or body can align itself to race it in a fair fashion. Not all cars are F1, Not all bikes need to be UCI classed.

    Dog loose

Both Labs and collies are not exactly attack dogs. I have had both. Enjoy the attention... They might just be happy to see you. A couple of firm flat hands will stop the shoe biting.
  3. I have used Formula almost exclusively for 5 -8 years now, I have had XX and XTR brakes( new gen), and have always gone back to Formula. Most people don't want brake modulation and like the feeling of on and off brakes. Formula offer that, the new gen shimano is close. The bleed works best upside down, for the primary bleed , as generally the master picks up air against the plunger. I saw that when I was servicing, a bubble kept forming on the master. Shake it off and your formulas don't give trouble. I use an adapted avid bleed kit.
  4. My riding partner is not happy with his Vipa, We were riding down our local trail, there is a point where the trail dips and bottoms both front and rear suspension, I broke 3 bikes ( at that point, s-works Epic, a CX bike and mongoose canaan. The Vipa cried in agony, and I am sure it now has a little crack around the top of the seat tube. The creaking and groaning on the way home suggested the hunch is true, when he stood no noise. He got the bike 3 months ago.
  5. Most BB's are not interchangeable, in the direct sense. There are an array of adapters that allow you to make your particular conversion possible. Chat to the guys at Rush, I bought an adapter get a few weeks ago that works very well, for exactly your conversion.
  6. It might be some residual cast material, interfering with the bearing or just a bad bearing. My money is on a bad bearing. The lefty ends are machined post casting.
  7. after being involved in marketing and sponsors for a good deal of my early career, I learnt you cant fight about small stuff. The fact that you offer to "sponsor" an event, I am sure some people read, take advantage of your brand and products in the name of marketing to achieve their personal goals.
  8. Hi Gents I have a frame, fork, wheels and crank set, ready for a donation. Where can I drop them?
  9. Yea that's a crack. A replacement should be easy to come by. You shouldn't need to prove too much as the crack has propagated from a stress raiser. If you need some engineer references I am happy to help. My 2c is that there is a lay up issue on that frame, The cracks seem to be at the inter tubular links suggesting that there is probably some material missing. Finally, I had no idea specialized had such terrible build quality, look at the waves the deformation of the hole, I am surprised it lasted that long.
  10. My Tufo sealants have been great, and last pretty well.
  11. Single front ring, and toss it out.. best decision I ever made.
  12. I still have a 6 speed road bike with suicide shifters, its not any slower than my 10 speeds.

    SRAM XX1

yes it can be done... but there are cheaper ways.
  14. Send a pic... I will let you know if I can help...
  15. If I gave a (&@^# about a seeding I might care. Otherwise I ride my bike, have fun and enjoy. If I start in C or A it really makes no difference in my life.
