Advice for a road bike

Hello.

 

First time buyer here.

 

Looking to purchase a new or used road bike.

 

Not really looking to spend more than 10k.

 

My problem is that i actually know nothing about road bikes. I do currently have one but its a 1990 eddy merckx model, old school but awesome bike.

 

Suggestions please.

As this is a common question on the hub have you done a search as there are plenty in depth threads about this?

 

but lets start off with ,

1) what size are you?

2) what do you want from a bike?

3) what are your goals?

Seen as you in Jhb, next weekend is the Cycle Fair,

there will be plenty of bike on show to test ride, and plenty 2013 model on sale to clear out for the 2014 stock.

My advice would be to know the answers of my previous 3 questions, do a bit of research and then go to the fair

with all that knowledge and " BARGAIN BARGAIN" your way to a price you can afford.
