i'm looking for a new XC fork. I've been looking at the RS tora, recon and reba. had a brief look at the SID as someone was selling one but i'm worried that it might not handle my weight (80kg) with only 80mm of travel. I'm looking for a reasonably priced fork.

 

What else do i need to know about fitting it to my current bike. if i change from my current 100mm fork to a 80mm will it change my geometry or does the steerer tube length determine that?

From 100mm to 80mm will surely change the geometry, as to how much you'll feel it will depend on how good/feely a rider you are and what kind of riding you do I guess.

 

The steerer tube length is extremely important if buying second hand. Make sure it will fit your bikes frame !!!!! Many have made the mistake of buying forks with too short steerers and ended up with an expensive doorstop ..

 

My son and boet both ride with Rebas in their various forms and are very happy, which one just depends on your budget. Buy the best you can .....
