Shimano XT Dearailleur spares

Hey guys,

 

I have Shimano XT M772 rear dérailleur that got slightly damaged during a ride last week. One of the cage plates, not sure whether it's the inner or outer plate (as I do not have the Dérailleur here with me) broke.

 

The Dérailleur still works perfectly and would just hat to throw away an almost perfectly good 9 Speed Dérailleur especially with the lack 9 Speed parts nowadays.

 

If anybody has an M772 Dérailleur lying around with perfectly good cages, please let me know, I will even buy it from you.

I replaced that part on my 9 speed XT with one from a 10 speed as they seem to be exactly the same.

 

I'll now probably get told otherwise but the only difference I could see between the 9 and 10 speed derailleur are the sprockets (obviously) and the location of the cable fastener. On the 10 speed the fastener is further out which means it takes more travel from the cable and shifter to move it from one end to the other. Initially I had thought I could just switch over the sprockets and use the 10 speed derailleur but the 9 speed shifter does not have enough travel to move the 10 speed mech through all the gears.

 

In short, if you don't come right just pick up a cheap 2nd hand 10 speed derailleur and switch over the cage.

Thanks, I have a M771, but the cage is totally different. But thanks, will keep an eye out for a 10spd one? So if somebody had a broken 10spd one that will work, I'll take it of your hands.

Oh I forgot to add mine is the standard M770. But I reckon the shadow cages will be the same too.
