Hi all,

I'm sure this topic has been covered before but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for an adapter to fit a Sram GXP crank into a PF30 frame. The ID of the bb shell is 42mm.

Cheers

Yip - That is the one option - then you have to run a std GXP outboard Bottom Bracket on it.

The other option is to get a BB30 bottom bracket and add the spacer set to be able to accommodate the GXP Crank. Either will work.

IMHO it's not worth fiddling with adapters, throw away or sell the existing BB (if you already have one) and just get a full new press fit GXP BB. It's a "normal" GXP bottom bracket except that it doesn't screw in.

Agreed - just be carefull - you get 3 different types op pressfit BB`s.

1. GXP Pressfit - made for older, smaller BB shells for GP crank - think the OD is 32mm

2. PF30 pressfit - made for BB30 cranks - 46mm OD

3. BB30 pressfit - made for BB30 cranks - 40mm OD

Measure your BB ID before you buy - there are always options on configuration.

I already have a pressfit GXP bb but it's too narrow for the shell on my frame. The frame has an ID of 42mm. I would like to avoid adapters if possible I agree. Edited by scotts

Then the best bet will be a new crank.

BB30 has a 30mm OD on the crank spindle.

GXP is 24mm with a step down to 22mm on the non-drive side.

GXP is also wider than BB30.

Thus - you will need a spacer to take op the space between the crank - 24mm and the bearing 30mm and also a bit of width.

I run spacers on my Spearfish and have not had any hassle as yet - if that helps.

Only other option is a new crank.

Spacers are a lot cheaper than a new crank.
