For a great insight into the real world of cycling, try Domestique by Charlie Wegelius. None of the "let's blame Armstrong" for everything that is wrong on the planet. Just a real account of how tough it is to be a pro cyclist, with none of the moralizing.

Racing through the dark by David Millar did that for me. Excellent book, entertaining personality.

I finished Hinacapie last night. It improved slightly, but still an average little book. Don't waste your money, there are better cycling books to read.

 

Then started with the Wegelius book. Looks promising.
