I attempted the 50km yesterday.. how difficult could that be? I'd asked myself. Weil I almost died. It was a well organised event, loads of single track and lots of technical stuff and at my level of fitness I probably should have stuck to the 25km.... or even the 6km

anyway I finally finished in ~4:40, my longest day in the saddle yet, but what i'd really like to know is if anyone managed to get an elevation map of the 50km. I have Strava on my phone but only managed to record the first 6 seconds of the ride :cursing:

If you have the map please could you post it, or if you know where I might find it please point me in the right direction, thanks.

Also found it tough,

did not enjoy route, Heia Safari have some pointless tracks, not very well build/designed more about trying to cram in as much single track into a small area, than having quality single track.

Besides $#@ parts of route, plus points to floating bridge, venue, organization, food, etc, etc, top marks for that.

oh and close encounter with Zebra & herd of Wildebeest made it interesting..

I'll load profile shortly.

I stuck to 25 and glad I did! The down hill then 180 deg turn followed by uphill nearly finished me a few times.

As for the second new bridge that looked great until you went over to discover a steep loose downhill with zero braking and lots of sliding!

the floating bridge at least kept my family amused for a while. big up to "captain America who went for a swim in his suit and still rode a lot of the 25km route soaking wet.
