Lightning on La Vuelta stage 9

Did anyone see the lightning on the stage this Sunday?

 

Does anyone know if race officials stop races due to it?

 

It seemed quite dangerous to me, I always head home if I see a highveld thunderstorm approaching!!

 

So did a bit of googling on the inteweb and most seem to agree it is dangerous.

"Motorcyclist/Bicyclist: Protect yourself when on a bicycle, motorcycle or dirt bike. Carry a portable NOAA Weather Radio or listen to commercial radio. If you see threatening skies in the distance and you are near a safe building, pull over and wait 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder before resuming your ride."

 

Would like to hear other riders comments, do we head home and stop races due to thunderstorms?
