Everyone I know that had a set of these destroyed them. They are light I wont lie, but if you are hard on your equipment or weigh more than your avg race snake I wouldn't consider these.

I am a huge AC fan and agree that the Race and White Lightning Tubeless versions before the 2014 "Wide" lightning got trashed quickly, I can from experience say these hold up much much better, and yes, I do ride hard.

Good stuff, I was mainly referring to the previous generation of AM classic's so maybe the new ones are better. I just got put off for life because I saw how my mates trashed them. On the lightness thing, they are super light...I remember at the time, they were lighter than some carbon version at half the price.

Give the new ones a go, Bill Shooks definitely refined the previous versions by a mile.

Nice, will consider them when I buy wheels again. They have always been good looking wheels and loved the hub's simple design and the rim strip AM classics come out with standard are fantastic.

Iv'e also got the AM Classic Wide Lightning now for a few months. Amazing!! Fell 2 times and went over heavy stuff...thought the rims would not have last...but they are 100%. Also seals great with tubeless tyres...no drop in pressure. Also looks amazing.

Also had mine for a couple of months and loving them. So fairly big falls amongst rocks and still true.

Battled to seat my Racing Ralph's on them, but that is because I haven't learnt how to do it properly yet.

Hi there hubbers

I need some help and advice, but first you need to kniw that when it comes to MTB parts I know nothing so anyone can bullsh#t me....PLEASE DON'T!!!!

I've recently upgraded to a carbon bike 2 months ago and my bike weigh in at 11.2kg....which Imthink is decent for a full suspension bike (Scott Spark 910).

All the cycles shops said I can easily throw off an extra few grams by changing the wheelset / handlebar and seatpost???

What would you guys recommend if I want to drop a few kg's or grams??? I know I must leave out the beer and drop a few KG's myself but I'm busy with that ;-)

Your help and advice will be highly appreciated.

Cheers

Dropping another kg or two on your bike could cost you around 10K. Losing a kg or two in person costs nothing. Thats my take. The rest is just bling.

I have heard a couple of stories of guys in races snapping carbon seat posts. Something to consider.

I personally prefer my perceived security of an aluminium cockpit. Wouldn't like to be flying down a hill and lose the ability to steer my bike.
