Club 100 in Cedar Road

This is an e-mail I sent to Club100 today. I will post their reply. Please, let's be safe out there and respect other road users as well.

 

"Dear Club 100

The behaviour of your club members today were despicable. Riding 4 abreast in Cedar Road (several rows of 4 abreast!), they very nearly caused a head-on collision this morning. This behaviour puts us all to shame and are part of the problem of motorists not having patience with cyclists."

 

Before anybody says "It wasn't me", the riders were wearing Club 100 clothes and a sweeper vehicle with Club 100 logos were following them.

I find this to be the problem with most of the club rides, especially when there are big bunches and mostly applies to the "newer" riders. Slightly off topic, does anyone know what happened with the rider down in the cradle coming down towards the lion park? I think it was a club100 rider, elderly gentleman... looked serious.

My neighbour tells me it's a work colleague, and he's in ICU at the moment. Not sure what happened, but he has severe head injuries.

Several weeks later, no reply from Club 100.

 

I assume the safety of cyclists and other road users are just not important to them.
