Holdfast economy bike carrier

I just wanted to know if anyone has used the holdfast economy bike carrier and what their impressions are. They are on special so wanted to know if it is a decent enough buy

Used one many, many years ago. Since the metal hook is the only place to secure the bike I always felt I am tightening it to much and start to worry about damage to the structure of the top tube. Probably not easily damaged, but I never felt comfortable. Carbon bike might be  a no-no.

 

Furthermore the frame type that fits on there has to be fairly standard. Any other frame type or small bikes could be problematic.

 

My advice - try something else (even second hand) if you can, but they can do the job. You will need additional methods of securing the swinging bike as with any hanging rack.
