Coronation Double Century - Riders needed

Afternoon

We are a bunch of avid mtb riders, who only participate in mtb events, except for the annual Argus Cycle Tour and / or the Double Century. I guess it is the extended team element of riding with 10 to 12 mates, on some of the most scenic routes, that is the attraction at the DC.....and then to a smaller extent, passing the road teams with your dukwiel (did I just say that ?! - lol)

Every year we give it horns as much as we can on our full knoblies and try and dip in just under 7 hours (missing it with few mins in the last two attempts).

Unfortunately due to a enormous amount of bad luck and shocking cards that we were dealt this past few days, 4 of our riders had to withdraw for next week !!

I would like to see whether there would be any person interested in joining us for the DC (weekend of 22 Nov), as said, on your mountainbike. The opportunity includes the entry, shirt and accommodation in Swellendam.

2 Critical requirements :

You need endurance for such a challenge - 205 kms on a road bike is tough enough (or so I have been told  ), but on a mountainbike with full knoblies, it is a different story all together, especially if you are going to average 29 - 30 km/h over that distance. So we are looking for a person/s with the necessary mileage / training in the legs for such a distance.

As important, someone with the right attitude, or perhaps ironically, a person with no "attitude" - Ons is klomp Afrikaanse-Boer-Seuns, wat niemand chip op die skouer het nie ! The old saying of one bad apple comes to mind, and again, on a long-ass day like the DC, you can ill afford to have guys on-board, who think they are better than you or folk who have their own agendas.

I know I am probably asking a lot - when you consider we are a week and half away from the event, but I figured I have nothing to lose by putting it out there and seeing if someone would consider.

Time targets is not going to rule our ride, in other words, should for example someone have a mechanical, we'll wait and assist as team. That said, there won't be any time for selfies or Instagram posts, and all things being equal gonna ride at a solid pace.

Should you bee keen, you can send me a private message, and we can take it from there.

Kind Regards
