Shimano 180 disc installation question

Tks. My SC LTc has carbon tabs at the rear, not posts. Adapter bolts to the tab and caliper to adapter. The tabs are not quite 100% parallel to the disc and the Shimano mounting system cannot compensate. Performance is still excellent but it bugs me...although not enough to consider a change to Avid/SRAM ????

Logic may dictate, but that's not where they go on Shimano brakes. As per the photo in the second post, only half the pads are contacting the rotor.

Avid uses two sets of spherical washers to help you make a pig's ear of aligning calipers on mounts that aren't correctly faced. Their new Guide range has done away with them.

I have no idea why Shimano use them.

Ideally brake mounts should be faced so the calipers align properly - Park make a tool each for post and IS mounts, but not many people use them.

I stand corrected then.

So we learn every day.
