Okay. So who rode on this guys runway?

Like many here, I'm a pilot and a cyclist.... questions are two fold....

1. Maulers runway is his runway and on private property so what were the guys doing there and why do they think its okay.

2. An aircraft on finals is committed.... the pilot has a bunch of things to think about, the least of his worries should be whether some inconsiderate cyclist, MX rider, Go carter or whatever is going to pop out in front of him as he lands.....

At some airfields (zebula, aeroden, ntokozo and a few others) the risk of game running onto the runway exists which is why very often a guy on a quad patrols the runway, ensures its risk free and attempts to keep it that way.... the pilot however is aware of the danger and lands with a different procedure / attitude, almost expecting to perform a go around if the need arises.

Do people not understand that if something goes on wrong on landing, like an unexpected obstruction on the runway, that immediately that poses a life threatening situation for all involved cyclist/ runner/ pedestrian included.

Sadly in JHB and all over it seems that (&%$$&& you is the new "sorry" - If im in the wrong, no matter how badly a simple &%$%&^ you will suffice,,, and if that doesn't work then we resort to now im going to moer you... but apologise ????.... Never.... some people just believe theyre above that..

Goffel, just by the way is a pretty well respected member of the CAA and aviation Community... I would be interested to hear how that conversation goes ....

I see this Goffel character is now boasting that he sprayed cyclist with pepper spray.

If this is true I would like to get in touch with the cyclists that were sprayed. I'll be happy to help them track this crunt down.

I follow the avcom forum on a regular basis and normally this Goffel chap is a pretty solid guy and very helpful, tbh I think he is just pulling the piss and the pepper spray event never happened...kind of like a fantasy of what some motorists would like to do.

If it had happened I would think that someone on the hub would have heard or "Raved" about it by now

That thread just highlights why cyclists are "hated" and why they follow the rules of the road, even if its just to improve the image of cyclists....
