Brickleberry Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Want to get a lighter crank , looking at a sram carbon crankset and a 105 shimano. Both are 10 speed crankset. Can this fit on my current set up?
Smartie Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Yes. Will work 100%. I run a 10-speed crankset with my 9-speed setup. Cranksets are generally not 'speed' specific. You may just need to adjust the limit screws slightly of your front derailleur.

You may just need to adjust the limit screws slightly of your front derailleur.The difference between 9 and 10 speed is not really noticeable thats why some may think it is not generally speed specific. But there are differences. You will be fine mixing 9 and 10 speed in this case. I will however not use a 11speed crank with a 9spd chain.The chainrings are closer together, the chain will rub against the pickup on the big chainrings when you are in the small chainring, trying to pick the chain up and dropping it again... doesn't work.
