Well, here goes:  (This comparison is with My old 2011 Merida Matts 26" hardtail with RockShock Dart 2 forks.)

Did only one offroad ride so far with her one late evening:

1.  She is fairly heavy

2. Harder to lift over log steps and due to longer pitch the rear tire is bouncing over one log and you have to lift over the next already.

3.  Granny gear not quite as low as I would have hoped for those really tricky sections.

4.  Awesome downhill with unbelievable suspension.

5.  Easy enough to maneuver around tighter sections.

6.  Low gear could also have done with another and I prefer 3 rings upfront - not sure if I will get used to spinning like hell every time I drop a ring up front.

On-Road - Tried to do an 84 km circuit which I normally did with ease on the Merida but after 72km (2000+ meters climb) I had to call it quits, I was poked.  Not sure if it was a different riding position that I am not yet used to but I was finished - Argus will be on the Merida for sure.

Going for another run this pm and will see how things go

Thanks for the review. The jump from 26' to 27.5' should be a bit different and the geometry should also be different between the two, but I think some tweaks and more riding will have you enjoying the machine more and more.

Is the weight really that significantly more? 2000+ of climbing will tire me out as well so I'm just trying to get an idea of how it affects the ascending portion.
