  1. Good day all, I have buckled under the pressure and decided to enter the 2018 360one challenge. This will be my first one, but have done a couple of Transbaviaans', K2C's etc. I was contemplating maybe hitting it on my XTC as the Anthem is quite a bit heavier and has more components that can break, but then again think my body might take less of a hammering on the dualie. As I don't know the terrain, I would love some views from people who has completed it.
  2. Recce'd this route in the morning with the car and might work but will have to test it. Down Jip de Jager, right into Uys Krige, up Plattekloof and left into Bosmansdam. Have to say haven't seen a lot of cyclists on this route...
  3. Thanks for the feedback all, Will start plotting the routes and see what works.
  4. Good morning, This topic might exist but have not been able to locate it. I want to start commuting to and from work at least 3 times a week from Bellville/ Durbanville to Century City. I'm not sure about safe routes to take so any advice would be fantastic.
  5. I think we might be talking past each other, I'm referring to the view of our modern society in general, not pointing fingers to anybody on this thread. Better education, upliftment programs etc will most probably make a difference, but as long as society in general looks in the other direction or ,such as this reporter, deliberately keep quiet we as a whole are not helping but actually contributing to this cancer and this vicious circle.
  6. No matter how we try to peel this onion, the fact of the matter is that we live in a society where your life is worth approximately R5 depending on the criminal standing in front of you. Personally, as fed up as I am, I feel completely powerless as not even the authorities are successful in curbing this occurrence. I mean yes we try and stay away from "problem" areas, but at the beginning of the year my girlfriend and her hiking group got attacked and one of the ladies got raped on what was described as a safe hike where... according to the authorities and the community.... this is the first time it has ever happened. I am very sorry but I'm past the point where we justify these type of behaviors and write it off as "ag shame", he is a product of his society and "if you were in his position" type of justification. This really hits home when something like this happens to your loved ones it is sad to say that we justify these bahviour patterns. Where will it end? Even one of the scum that attacked the Tokai teenager is now pleading for mercy as he is a victim of his circumstances. A bit of rant, but my 5cents.
  7. Thanks! Could you please send the link to peetjkruger@gmail.com. I might join you one morning as well.
  8. Are there any routes/ safe routes to bike from Durbanville/ Bellville to Rondebosch?
  9. We descended it in the night and as long as you do not try and be a cowboy you should be fine. There is one hairpin bend if memory serves that you can overshoot if you are not focussing, so maybe it is a good idea to do it in the dark as the light might might fill you with dredd of, "what if I went over" MAC is a steep not so nice climb, but the Neverender is the one where your head starts messing things up... it's not steep just a long ass grind and by that point you might have a sense of humour failure
  10. How and where do I get some of this meanmothertrucker pepper spray? One of my friends was in the group and I missed it due to my bike only being ready this morning. Either this or I need to start riding with a firearm. Sick and tired of this to be honest.
  11. Awesome event! Well organised. Water points had ice cold drinks and food no matter if you were in front or a back marker. Well marked and the food etc at the finish was fantastic all in all an awesome experience. Long route is definitely not for the faint hearted. Was a little sick this weekend but decided to ride in any case and boy did I pay the school fees for that. Kudos to Meurant and his team. This was definitely one for the books.
  12. It is definitely possible. We did it without a support vehicle last year. I would advise though to arrange for your car to be brought to Jeffreys by one of the organiser's drivers if you do not have someone to drive the car from Willowmore.
  13. Me and some friends had a blast at Jonkers on the new trails on Sunday. Put on some baggies and just let it rip. http://i1169.photobucket.com/albums/r508/Peet_Kruger/FB_IMG_1451818350920.jpg
