Hello hubbers...

As everyone else im in noooo mood to work today and was hoping on some advise from you...

I use Strava (Love it) but my phones software/gps is not that good lately...i need a new HRM also, so was thinking of getting the Garmin forerunner 15 (Has GPS and HRM) funtion.

My question... if i upload my data from Garmin FR15 on Strava... will the data look the same as if it was done by Strava or will it differ? reason im asking is a saw a youtube video where someone did that but i didnt see the usual "look" when one looks at a ride ... and didn't see the "elevation" thing also. This was indeed on Strava and not on the Garmin software.

Has anyone here got the Garmin FR15 and can tell me if its a good cost effective option (ill rather spend my other cash on my bike).

Also doe the Garmin FR15 have (3 Heart rate zones or 5)?

I have one. Bought one in Jan 2015, absolutely loving it. Just takes a long while to find your location, even out in the open.

I wouldn't suggest it for cycling though, it isn't a multi-sport piece of equipment. Get a Garmin Edge 500 for in-depth cycling analysis. FR15 is for running only.

I have the Garmin FR15 and use it with Strava all the time. The data portability between the watch and Strava is perfect and I've actually found it to be more accurate than the app as it doesn't rely on cell towers and assisted GPS.

It's a superb running watch and has all the features you need and none of the features you don't for a fraction of the price of "high-end" running watches. It has 5 heart rate zones so you should be very happy with it.

Great to hear !!! For the its a running watch (one can use it for cycling for sure as i need HRM and GPS) so then to upload to strava.

Mecheng89: You mention it takes a long time to find the GPS, can i only start recording once a signal is found or can i hit the button and it will find it eventually? My strava is weird and if theres not GPS signal (strong) it wont keep on searching but just stay as it is. With my strava its frustrating as i need to ride 5 blocks down to get signal then record and then it will follw me everywhere. (hence i want the FR15) to be more reliable...

The GPS signal is not instant. You push the blue button on the top right, then the watch will flash "Getting Location" with a progress bar at the bottom. Only once that bar is 100%, the watch makes a short beep noise, and the timer will appear. Then the text "Start" and "Cancel" will appear, whereupon you choose "Start" to record your activity.
