That really sucks dude. The Giant store in Durbanville is a absolute joke, so SPez chose to go the same route. Feel sorry for Deon, cant sell Spez or Giant, eish, not much left hey. The rest are sold at CWC.

Each has his own experience in such shops.

 

When we were shopping for a bike for the Mrs, we walked into another shop selling giant - the salesperson was busy with a couple and giving them the low down. They left and he proceeded to help us. He told us everything we wanted to know.

 

Next we went to the concept store, I mean it is the concept store right? Same couple were there standing waiting and looking pretty miffed. They had been there for 15 min and not got helped. Lucky I phoned ahead during the week and I asked for the specific person to help us. What a dissapointment All he said was "there is the bike with the specs". Did very little to assist us with questions etc. Their range is very good - but this sales person could not have been bothered with us. I asked him to sell us a bike and he could not have made any harder to try spend our money in the shop. After 5 min of asking him questions and getting the most simple of answers we said thanks. The other couple (looking to buy 2 bikes) also took note of this and as a result the store lost out on a sale of 3 bikes.

 

Now I know salespeople have good and bad days - but being spoken down to and treated like that makes it hard to give the store a second chance, especially if you are prepared when to drive from far and as a result there is a large choice base.

 

So for the meantime, the store gets a thumbs down from me. When (or, if) I go back and I get a different experience, I might change my mind. But that is my experience, yours may be different.

Only time will tell if the concept store approach will work in the long term so maybe I'm completely off the mark... But IMO by pulling support from the very people who helped build their brand to its current success and flogging boatloads of overpriced s-works bikes to the super rich brand conscious market... To the normal guy on the street spez is slowly building a bit of a knob/bully/greedy reputation
