Specialized Allez Road Bike

Hi There,

 

I am not much of a roadie as I am more of an MTB guy, I am looking at giving road a go but do not want to get dragged into spending excessive amounts of money like I did with MTB.

 

The occasion has presented itself to purchase a Specialized Allez as per the subject line, the price was indicated at 14k but I have managed to bring it down to 10k.

 

The bike is a Aluminium Frame  but has been equipped with the Tarmac Full CF Fork and Royal Fusee Star Wheels.

 

My concerns:

• I have reading about the claris group set and its not mind blowing, I understand I am a beginner and this is a good starter pack. Can the groupset be upgraded at any given time?
• Is it a good buy? The bike is in pristine condition.
• Is 10k fair for this bike and extras?
• Is an 8 speed an issue so to speak.

For 10k you can get a Merida with Sora 9 spd. Brand new.

 

But i guess that won't impress your tjommies as much as a Spez.
