Fox CTD Shock issue

Hi All

I've discovered that when I shift from Climb to Traction to Downhill mode, the shock won't click into the final position (ie Downhill). If I pull lightly on the end of the cable it clicks into position so thought it might be grit, so gave it a good clean but the issue persists. Has anyone had this before?

The cable is slack when this happens so don't think it's a cable tension issue.

Any idea's?

Thanks in advance

If we are talking about the front fork, and if you have a remote CTD lever, it could be the lever alone.

I've had an issue where it was badly assembled back after a service.

Back to LBS and it was sorted in 5min...

I would remove it from the bike and check it on the bench.  If it is not the cable it must be the return mechanism.  These cable type remotes are touchy.  Tiny springs, clamp bolts and highly sensitive to dirt.

Thanks David. Will give it a go. Could the return mechanism be wrecked? Was looking to see if I could've over reached on the mechanism but since it has a stopper I've assumed this would be prevented

I doubt that it is wrecked and even if it was it can be rebuilt.  I am not sure how deep into the mechanism you can go from the outside (without opening from the damper side) but you can certainly remove the red rebound knob and the blue compression pulley.  Try that and give it a good clean with a carb or brake cleaner aerosol.  Reassemble as per the instructions at http://www.ridefox.com/help.php?m=bike&listall=service and under the Rear shock service section select Remote eyelet rebuild.  Don't take the camshaft out because I don't think you can get it back into position without releasing the pressure on the damper control shafts.  You are welcome to bring it to my workshop if you need assistance.
