The Spur Mountain Bike Classic is the oldest funride on the Western Cape MTB calendar and has always been a great family outdoor event. This year enjoy the scenic routes amongst some famous Helderberg wine estates with their loved ones.

The Post House Vineyards is a gem just off Winery Road and gives access to the Wannabees trails in the area. Three routes plus kiddies events will offer something for all ages to enjoy on their bikes.

Riders can always look forward to beautiful riding and views. The trails we use are the Helderberg MTB Trails. The farms are all nestled on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain which is a bit higher than Table Mountain, The tallest part of the mountain is referred to as the Dome, as from a distance it resembles the dome of a church.

DISTANCES:

• 0.5km, 1.5km & 3km for small children (10 & under)

• 15km funride for children & novices.

• 30km funride for beginner/intermediate riders

• 45km challenge for intermediate, but fit riders

 

Title sponsor, Spur Steak Ranches will also have their jumping castles, entertainment and great food at the finish.

Refreshment stations on the routes, medals to all finishers and Coke at the finish as well. Pre-entries save and also get goodys so enter early!

Don’t miss the lucky draw after the event, as all riders will stand a chance to win great prizes, including a mountain bike and accommodation, vouchers. The first 150 kids (10 & under events) will receive a medal & goody bags from Spur! Friends and family can socialize on the lawns of this fantastic Estate & massages available after completing the race. Also Dirtopia Fietswinkel will have basic mechanical service available at the finish! Spur burgers, pancakes, Cafe Pronto coffee, biltong & snacks will be for sale.

This was a great race, not a killer but enough to keep me excited and still have energy to spend the rest of the day with the family

Compared with last years event, you really made a difference this year and for the better. The trails were far better. The venue was on another level. The only issue was as in most races at the finish joining the short distances with the longer routes. This venue had several dirt roads leading to the finish, but you chose to join all the routes near the finish and on single track. Single track with fun riders and fast riders does not work. It's dangerous.

We know the Spur event is a family day, but you should also know you can't stop the leading guys from racing. We train hard and know no other way how to ride. Next year you should try and at least let the longer route have there own trail to the finish. This way you will make it safer for the fun riders and the fun riders don't have to get annoyed with us asking them to move out the way.
