PYGA Hubset. Opinions & Info please.

I'm on the prowl for a new hub set.

Hope are my first choice, but with the way the prices are going, am considering these Pyga hubs.

 

Anyone had decent ride time on them? Opinions or reviews? how do they stack up?

 

Also, my guess (correct me if I am wrong) Pyga have taken an existing hub model and re-branded.

If I am right, anybody know where these hubs come from? What exactly are you buying?

I can't comment on the Pyga hubs (classic thehub), but I have just received a set of Rapide hubs. They look damn near identical (weights are the same too), although I can't tell you whether they are actually the same hub rebranded. The Rapides are cheaper though and include the qr adapters. If you're interested I can give you first impressions once I have them built but I'm sure you can find the same review threads on the Rapide hubs that I did.

I have seen them in action and compared to the other bikes which where all running high end hubs the wheels just kept spinning and spinning.

You're right, they do look identical and judging from the photos I would bet they are the same or at least from the same origin. Only thing I couldn't tell is whether the pyga hubs also have that little steel strip to protect the freehub body.
