Hey there! Welcome!

Well fortunately for you a Ransom is more of an All-Mountain bike than a DH bike, so there are more riding options open to you.

Hakahana is one of the most popular at the moment. Some nice gravity orientated technical riding, and only about 45min drive from Randburg.

other options for you include:

  • Van Gaalen (loads of trails where a 160mm bike can be fun)
  • Wolwespruit (nice jump line there that has mellow lips and long landings, so nice for longer travel bikes)
  • Helderkruin (DH track near Clearwater Mall. 160mm bikes do just fine there)
  • 139 (Waterkloof). A bit run down at the moment, but the guys are working on it.
  • Thaba (there's rumours of an "endure line" being built there. There may also be remnants of some of the stuff from the 2 DH tracks, but I don't know what condition it is in)

And of course... there's the KZN Provincial Enduro & DH series to look forward to next year. Many of the races are in the Midlands (So just 5hrs from JHB), and they have Enduro on Saturday and DH on Sunday. Makes for a great weekend away. Lots of Gautengers go down for those.

So yeah, add a dropper post to your rig, and you'll open up a world of riding possibilities!
